Cover materials
Quality you can touch: our fabrics and leather
The cover material is one of the most important features for customers when buying upholstered furniture. That’s why we rely on a wide variety of high-quality fabrics and leathers – even for special requirements, such as those that pet owners place on their sofa. To make the right decision for your own home, it helps to understand the different types of material.
Our fabrics: variety for your home
If you opt for a fabric sofa, you have the choice between numerous materials, some of which have different properties. To help you find the right cover for your needs, we explain our textile and fabric types and their key figures in the following sections.

Product-specific properties
Lightening, abrasion spots, and visual aging (darkening/patina) are typical for this product. Lighter cover fabrics in particular tend to show jeans abrasion or similar effects more quickly.
Pilling and roughening are also unavoidable effects. Take care when coming into contact with sharp or hooking objects, as this may cause snagging. Prolonged contact with other fabrics that are not colorfast may also cause color transfer. Particularly strong colors tend to fade when exposed to strong UV light. Due to the nature of production, there may be variations in color and surface texture between product batches.
Use & care
Even with very good care, the surface material will inevitably change color to a certain extent due to light exposure, abrasion, and wear. To ensure that you can enjoy your new product for as long as possible, please observe the following instructions. Do not expose your new product to direct sunlight. If possible, avoid direct contact with a radiator. Take care not to rub the cover fabric with very rough surfaces (clothing).
Cleaning
Avoid using harsh cleaning agents and test all cleaning agents on a concealed area beforehand to check for any color changes. A clean, damp cotton cloth is best for most stains. Avoid rubbing vigorously and try to remove stains by dabbing/absorbing them first.
No warranty can be given for any damage caused by improper care, unsuitable cleaning agents, or improper use.

Data:
- 100% polyester
- 45,000 abrasion cycles
Important properties:
- Pile changes (seat mirror/wear gloss) are unavoidable in all chenille fabrics
- Due to the nature of the material, a slight striping effect occurs

- Patina and shiny spots are to be expected with use
- Loops may form when the fabric becomes snagged on sharp objects (including Velcro fasteners)
- Light colors may bleed into dark or intense colors when combined with them
Product characteristics:
Dark and intense colors may experience color pigment migration and color abrasion. Pilling is unavoidable and may also occur due to the adhesion of foreign fibers. All flat fabrics will become rough with use and patina and shiny spots may develop. Loop pulls are to be expected when the fabric becomes caught on sharp objects. Due to the nature of the material, a slight striping effect may occur. With chenille fabrics, changes in pile position (sitting mirror), iridescence (color change at different angles of light), and flattening of the chenille effect are unavoidable. A certain degree of color fading due to light exposure or abrasion from use over time is also inherent in the nature of chenille fabrics. Minor color and structure deviations between production batches are unavoidable and may occur.
Instructions for use and care:
Please observe the instructions for use and care at www.eurotex2000.com.
We accept no liability for damage caused by improper use, cleaning, care, subsequent impregnation, or pets.

Our fabric types
Microfiber
Microfiber is a collective term for fibers with a high fineness of less than one decitex (dtex), i.e. less than one gram per 10,000 meters of microfiber (in comparison: cotton weighs between 1.5 and 2.5 dtex). These fibers are exceptionally soft, yet tear-resistant and dimensionally stable. They can be made from synthetic or natural materials. Polyester and polyamide are frequently used, as well as nylon, acrylic and cellulose. As microfibers are so fine, several fibers are needed to produce one thread. This results in a larger thread surface. Thanks to the fine fibers, this type of fabric is very robust.
When it comes to colors and shapes, there are no limits to individual wishes in the production of microfiber fabrics. The manufacturing process means that dirt and moisture can hardly penetrate the fabric. This makes cleaning extremely easy: a damp cloth is often enough to remove stains without damaging the material. This type of textile therefore offers comfort, functionality and versatility.
The most important advantages of microfiber:
- Resistant: high durability and dimensional stability
- Easy to care for: liquids and dirt hardly penetrate the fabric and cleaning is easy
- Versatile: large selection of colors and textures
- Universally applicable: suitable for sofas, armchairs and other furniture
Microvelour (flock fabrics)
Microvelour fabrics (flock fabrics) are known for their softness. This is determined by the length of the pile. Natural fibers (cotton) and synthetic fibers can be used for production. The longer the pile, the fluffier the fabric. Long pile breaks more easily or can permanently bend, while short pile is resistant and durable.
Changing or a luster of use (seat mirror) are typical for this type of fabric.
Micro velour is kind to the skin and extremely easy to care for, has an elegant, shiny appearance and is breathable. Care with upholstery brushes is sufficient.
The most important advantages of micro velour:
- Pleasant: breathable and kind to the skin
- Particularly easy to care for: simple cleaning is possible
- Soft: pleasantly soft to the touch
- Timeless: suitable for many furnishing styles
Flat fabric
Flat woven fabrics made of natural or synthetic fibers are two-dimensional fabrics that have no pile. Textures and patterns can be emphasized using fancy yarns. Simple flat woven fabrics are woven in basic weaves or their derivatives; however, two groups of threads can also be crossed at right angles.
If patterns are to be created, further thread systems are added. This production method creates a special look and a pleasant feel. With its high abrasion resistance and dimensional stability, flat woven fabric helps to considerably extend the life of your upholstered furniture. However, flat woven fabric not only scores points functionally, but also visually. Thanks to its simple yet elegant structure, it blends harmoniously into any furnishing style. Modern and timeless at the same time, this fabric is always on trend.
The most important advantages of flat woven fabric:
- Durable: high resistance and resilience
- Dimensionally stable: ensures a long service life for upholstered furniture
- Versatile: large selection of colors, patterns and textures
- Modern and timeless: fits in with any furnishing style

Significance of fabric measurements
When selecting fabrics, a lot of additional information is often provided. These are the most common measurements:
Martindale value (abrasion cycles)
This value indicates how abrasion-resistant the textile is – in other words, a measure of the durability of the fabric. This durability is determined by a testing device rubbing the fabric against a standardized wool fabric and measuring the number of abrasion cycles required until two threads of the test fabric are rubbed through. For your upholstered furniture at home, a fabric should have at least 10,000 to 15,000 Martindale cycles. More heavily used furniture in cafés or on public transport should have at least 30,000 Martindale cycles.
Light fastness
This value indicates the extent to which the color of a fabric tends to fade when exposed to sunlight. The value is given on a scale from one (very low light fastness) to eight (excellent light fastness). Fabrics with a light fastness of seven or eight are usually outdoor fabrics.
Pilling
The term “pilling” describes the process in which individual fibers come loose and small nodules form that cover the surface of the fabric. Simply put, the fabric “fluffs”. The corresponding scale shows values from one (very strong pilling) to five (no pilling). A distinction is made between internal and external pilling.
