At Dietsch, we are rooted in tradition and focused on the future – for upholstered furniture with origin and character. At our site in Schmalkalden, we manufacture our products in a fully integrated production facility. We combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology. This is how we turn high-quality raw materials into your new favorite piece of furniture.
Development / prototyping
Before production starts, our models are designed and developed by our experienced team in line with market developments and customer requirements. Our development department covers all steps - from the first draft to the development of the model with its materials and work processes to the creation of the work plans and incorporation of the data into our system.
Wood cutting and frame construction
The frame forms the basis of every piece of upholstered furniture. In our in-house production facility, our frame construction department, we cut wooden panels and slats and process them on the most modern woodworking machines in a highly automated process. The wood we use comes from European forests and is FSC or PEFC certified. Thanks to the precise processing and careful testing by our team, a stable foundation is created that can withstand the highest loads.
Fabric and leather cutting
Durable fabrics, fine leather - we select high-quality materials for every piece of furniture. The selected cover materials are cut to the millimeter using modern cutting techniques and CAD technology. This allows us to minimize material waste.
Sewing
In our sewing department, the work steps of fleece cutting, cutting/chaining, sewing and quilting are carried out. The cover materials and covers are sewn on the basis of the fabric and leather cuttings provided. Our seamstresses combine craftsmanship and attention to detail. The many years of experience of our specialist staff combined with the most modern sewing machines, on whose screens cutting and sewing plans can be viewed, enable us to achieve a very high quality of workmanship and work efficiency.
Pre-upholstery
The pre-upholstery department works in parallel with the sewing department. This is where straps are attached to the prepared frames, high-quality and durable foams are glued on and functional fittings are partially pre-assembled - in preparation for processing in the upholstery shop. These work steps lay the foundation for the outstanding seating quality of our upholstered furniture.
Upholstery and assembly
The upholstery shop is where the prepared cover materials and the pre-upholstered frames meet. During assembly, the frames are covered with the cover materials and upholstered to complete the upholstered furniture. The individual elements are assembled here to form the complete set.
Final inspection and quality assurance
Before an item of upholstered furniture leaves our factory, it undergoes a strict quality and final inspection. From stability and comfort to detailed workmanship - nothing is left to chance. An experienced and specially trained team checks the finished furniture against a list of criteria. This is the only way to ensure that our customers receive a product that will delight them. If the upholstered furniture passes the checks, it is carefully packed, loaded onto the truck and delivered.

From climate-neutral frame construction and energy-saving production to the reuse of residual materials: our commitment to the environment is reflected throughout the entire production process.
